Whaling City Rowing is continuing to offer its youth rowing program for children ages 14-17 into the fall of 2008.   Participants will learn how to row replica James Beetle whaleboats, and receive lessons on basic boating safety and the maritime heritage and environmental issues of New Bedford harbor.  The program takes place at Pope’s Island Marina on Thursdays from 6pm to 7pm, September 11th through October 16th.  The fee for the fall program is $25 per child for the six week program.  Scholarships are available for those who meet the income guidelines.  No prior rowing experience is required.
